I just started testing this out (the FF addon).  My initial tests... Awesome!!!

My one big problem is that when I click the email button (or try the email feature directly from the pulldown menu next to the big S icon) nothing happens at all.  Is it supposed to open up an email application with the attached image file?  Are there settings for the email function?  Something should happen, right?

P.S.  I've read a lot of posts about adding support to re-open saved PNG files.  Don't ruin a good product by bloating it with unncecessary features.  People, if you want to edit an already saved PNG file then open it in a dedicated image editor.  This does a great job at quickly snapping shots, adding highlights/boxes/annotations, and saving/emailing.  I'm not looking for Photoshop inside my Firefox, and making this a do-all swiss army knife will just take it away from its intended purpose.

Hi,

first of all, thanks for your feedback.

The email feature should open your default email client (check whether it have been set properly) and attach screenshot into a new message. Which client are you using by the way?

Re-opening saved PNGs have been already implemented in Screenshot Studio, I don't think it will be included in FireShot however: this will be another (shareware) product.

My default email application is Outlook, with Gmail available too.  Windows 2000.

I just installed and tested this addon on a different computer, Windows XP. Same exact problem even though it's a different situation.  I click email and nothing happens.

You said to check whether it have been set properly.  Do you mean the default email application or the addon?  I don't see any email options within the addon.

Did you set up your default mail client in Internet Explorer options? (IE->Tools->Internet Options->Programs->E-mail)

I've got the same configuration and everything go OK for me.

On one computer IE is the default browser and on another FF is the default browser.  But yes, on both computers the default email application is properly set within IE (one to Outlook and the other to Outlook Express).

I also tried disabling all other FF addons to see if there might be a conflict, but the email function still didn't open up the email application.  Quite puzzling how I have the same problem on two different computers, but the addons aren't the cause.

I don't know what else to look at so I'm pretty much giving up on what would have been a great feature to use.  But I'm still going to keep the extension because I think it's still a useful tool.  I'll just have to save the image to the desktop first, then email it myself. I'll take half of a useful program over nothing.

Thanks for the extension.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that maybe something will mysteriously make the extension's email function work for me when it gets updated to Firefox 3.

Sounds really mysteriously.. Hope it will be solved soon somehow..

Great extension, never thought that it can be so easy to get screenshots.

But I have the same problem with the Email-function

OS: Win XP
Browsers: IE7, Firefox 2.0.0.11
Email: Outlook 2003

The Email-Client is set correctly in IE

I tried it with older versions (from the mozilla update-page).

Email works with .21
It does not work with .22 and .25

hi hebrahimip!

You are working with software that costs you not a cent, a workaround (install 0.21) was posted.
It is the best piece of support-software i have seen for years. So wait a while or donate some hundred bucks, so that JK will hurry up if it is that important!

Hello ....

great tool in general.

Only the email send function(the button) doesn't works since (round abaout)the 10 last releases.
I've 1 build in mind in wich the email send function worked correctly. I think it was release 22 to wich i downgraded at that time from the following releases.

I'm using outlook 2003 and firefox 2.0.0.12

It would be really great if i could use the functionality to send a screenshot directly via mail.

Another point:
How is it about a functionality to change the name of the image on the fly bevor sending it via mail?

kind regards

Fireshot 0.50, WinXP,SP2,Eng, FF2.0.0.14

Took a screenshot, then click on the mail icon and it opens Outlook.  Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.14 is my default email program both as seen by TB and as set in the computer in Control Panel/Internet Options/Programs.

Tried 3 times as finally had to send a screen shot using windows printscn.
