Posted:  11 May 2010 10:40
Plugin version: Fireshot 0.83
OS type and version: MS Windows XP Professional 2002 SP 3 - English
Version of IE: 8.0.6001.18702
Bug: I uninstalled the previous version of Fireshot (0.81, freeware). I installed the 0.83 version and it opens the popup with the message "Fireshot pro trial expired". I had not Fireshot pro !

I'd like to use the 0.83 freeware version.

Other details: I have also Firefox with Fireshot 0.80 (and it works). I use the function "Integrate with Internet Explorer" , i restarted IE and it worked (version 0.80).

When I try the automatic updates to 0.83 version Avast Antivirus founds a virus

Win32:Rootkit-gen [Rtk]

If I uninstall 0.80 and reinstall (manually) Fireshot 0.83, I (again) see the popup "Fireshot PRO expired".

It seems that 0.83 forced the PRO version in some way.

Hello,

starting from 0.83 version, FireShot for IE is not freeware anymore if you use manual update.

The problem with Avast is false positive.

So no freeware versions for IE will be available ?

I'm getting the same Expiration notice.  Do you confirm IE version is not freeware anymore?  Or is there a way to force the IE plugin to run in freeware mode?

that's sad, that was the only argument to not go with Snag-it (screenshot with scrolling was the main feature I was looking for and that's what I got with the freeware).

Thanks for that time where it was free!

but Fireshot for Firefox 4 is still free? Like stated on the download page both here and on Mozilla's Add-on page.
