Firefox crashes whenever I try to save a page.  I haven't tried other options (print, etc.)

Firefox version 3.6.3
Fireshot 0.83
Windows XP Home SP3, English

Please do the following:

- install a debug version from: http://screenshot-program.com/dloads/fireshot_83d.xpi
- run Firefox as administrator to let the application to write to C: or assign these permissions temporarily yourself (second case is more preferred).
- make sure it crashed
- send the log file c:\fireshot_dbg.txt

Here is the file.  It doesn't appear to be very useful.

I'm quoting the text because I don't see any obvious way to attach it to my message.

********** initLibrary start ***********

That's all there is in the fireshot_dbg.txt file

Looks too short. I've made some changes. Please perform once more:

- run firefox, uninstall current version
- restart firefox, make sure there's no FireShot installed
- install a debug version from: http://screenshot-program.com/dloads/fireshot_83_1d.xpi
- run Firefox and do test actions
- make sure it crashed
- send the log files c:\fireshot_dbg.txt and c:\fireshot_dbg_1.txt

Thank you.

P.S. You can send the logs to

After uninstalling the old version and installing the latest debug version Firefox no longer crashes.  When uninstalling the old version I found that I had both 0.80 and 0.83 versions installed.  Apparently, upgrading to the new version did not automatically uninstall the older version.

I can now save small pages, but attempting to save large pages fails with an "unknown error" after first reporting that there is insufficient video memory.
My video card has 512MB of memory.

I have sent the debug text files separately.

Thanks Bill,

I've successfully detected this error while updating from 0.80 version to 0.83 with your help. Yes, it needs 0.80 version to be uninstalled first.

Fireshot 0.89
XP Home SP3 English
Firefox 3.6.17
Click "Save Capture" icon.

The last post in this thread was a year ago, but now this is happening to me. When the icon is clicked to save the page a violation error message occurs, and when the OK button of the error message is clicked FF crashes.

The first time this happened FF did not crash immediately, but did so when I tried a second time to save the page.

As I've recently applied both FF and FS updates I have no idea which is responsible for the problem.

Hello and thank you for this info. Can I send you a test build to discover the nature of this bug?

By all means - thanks

I have the same problem when using the default button click (set to capture entire page and edit).  When I select anything specific and try to edit the image, NO button in the editor responds to any click.

Guys, I wonder if we could get in touch via http://www.teamviewer.com/ to let me see this error and try to fix it. If this is possible, please get back to me via contacts@screenshot-program.com, thanks!

wsinder, did you try upgrading to 0.89 version?

In case of 0.89 version is not working for you, can you please type in the address bar "about:crashes" and send me the links for the crash reports you mentioned?

Guys, I think I fixed this issue. Can you confirm it by installing the update from here: http://screenshot-program.com/dloads/fireshot_89_fixed.xpi ?

Works fine for me. Good work - many thanks indeed.

Ok, thank you

JK,

Sorry, out yesterday.  Upgraded to 0.89, all works OK (except still can't see "About" button in the editor).  Thanks for your help.
Posted:  23 May 2011 18:40
Thanks, wsinder.
As of regarding of the About button: what is your screen resolution?
Posted:  23 May 2011 18:45
1024 X 768 pixels
Posted:  23 May 2011 19:08
Ah, I should test this resolution before giving you a 100% answer, but it looks like FireShot needs the screen to be a bit wider

Here we go again!  Just upgraded to FF 7.0, and now Fireshot doesn't respond or throws a JavaScript exception when I push a button.
Firefox 7.0 (beta)
Windows XP Pro, SP3, English
FireShot 0.91 (I think, can't get to a version screen)
Posted:  19 Aug 2011 18:29
Can you please install the 0.92 version from AMO and check it?
Posted:  19 Aug 2011 19:40
Sorry, checked add-on manager - that's the version I have.
Posted:  20 Aug 2011 05:05
Well, I've made some investigations and it looks like the binary files should be rebuilt for the compatibility with Fx7. It will take a week or two to release a new version.
